How to Prepare for a Boudoir Shoot: Unlocking Your Inner Muse For Masculine Persons
A boudoir session isn’t just a photoshoot—it’s your chance to own your confidence, unleash your sensuality, and celebrate the art of you. At EFP Studios, we’re all about ditching the mask, shedding the armor, and stepping into your power. While this guide is focused on masculine-presenting individuals, our space is inclusive of all gender expressions—everybody deserves to feel sexy, empowered, and seen.
Our Philosophy on Boudoir Photography
1.) Every body is a work of art—yours included.
2.) Boudoir is about discovering your authentic self.
3.) Confidence has no gender—boudoir is for everyone.
4.) This is your session—make it your own.
5.) Treat yourself. Embrace your identity. Document the moment.
More Than Just Posing—You Are the Muse
Boudoir is for anyone who wants to see themselves in a new light. Confidence isn’t limited to one look or body type—it’s about owning who you are. At EFP Studios, we love watching our clients walk out of the studio with their heads held higher.
Skin Prep: Get That Glow
No need for an elaborate skincare routine, but a little prep goes a long way:
Hydrate: Drink water. Your skin (and camera) will thank you.
Moisturize: Smooth, healthy skin is always in.
Sunscreen: Protect your face—sun damage isn’t sexy.
Sleep: Bags belong in the closet, not under your eyes. Aim to have a good week with sleep hygiene before your session.
Skip the Booze: Alcohol dehydrates—cut back for a fresh & youthful look.
Exfoliate: Buff away dead skin 3-4 days before your session.
Stick to Your Routine: Now is not the time to try new skincare. Stick to what you’ve been doing to prevent any skin reactions.
Ditch the Self-Tanner: We can adjust tones in post-shoot.
Grooming: The Details Matter
A little effort = a lot of confidence:
Haircut: Get trimmed a week before—no last-minute experiments.
Facial Hair: Whether clean-shaven or bearded, keep it intentional.
Body Hair: Your body, your choice—just plan ahead.
Eyebrows: Clean them up if that’s your thing.
Hands & Feet: A simple nail trim and clean-up go a long way. Think about booking a mani/pedi if that’s your thing!
Mindset: Get in the Zone
Mirror Practice: Give yourself some self-love in the mirror! Confidence is the best accessory.
Skip the Comparisons: You don’t need a six-pack to look amazing. Come as YOU are!
Stretch: Holding poses is a workout—make sure to come ready and try to loosen up beforehand.
Wardrobe: What to Bring
Bring a mix of styles that make you feel you:
Underwear Sets: Classic black, gray, or white—or a bold or patterned colour if that’s your vibe.
Button-Up Shirts: Unbuttoned and effortless—need we say more?
White Tank Top: Timeless, simple, and sexy.
Suit: Bring your power in a suit and we’ll bring the poses to make you feel electric.
Jeans: Low-slung, unbuttoned, effortless.
Work Uniform: If it’s part of your story, bring it!
Step Into Your Story
Boudoir isn’t just about the photos—it’s about the experience. It’s about embracing who you are, being vulnerable, and celebrating your unique energy. Whether you want edgy, smoldering, or playful, this session is yours.
Every session at EFP Studios includes a pre-shoot questionnaire to lock in your vision—your poses, your vibe, your aesthetic. Whether you’re here to surprise a partner or reclaim your own confidence, we’re ready to capture you at your best.
So take a deep breath, own your moment, and let’s make some magic. Let’s go!
